By now, you've probably seen what the Anaheim Ducks did in overtime against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night.
In case you didn't see it, though, here's a quick summary. The Ducks held the puck for over a minute in their own end of the ice and didn't make any risky plays that could have resulted in McDavid and the Oilers getting the puck.
Eventually, the Ducks took a chance and it turned into a goal. After the game, McDavid was asked about the unique strategy the Ducks employed and he shared his thoughts on it.
Hard not to agree with McDavid in this instance. It definitely seemed like the Ducks knew exactly what they were doing and honestly, it was a brilliant strategy.
Why would you want to give arguably the best player in the world an opportunity to control the puck in a 3-on-3 setting, especially when you're in the thick of a playoff race.
Some fans didn't agree with what the Ducks did, but if it was your team and they needed that one extra point to better their playoff chances, there's no way I'd want to give up possession of the puck to the NHL's leading scorer.
