The Arizona Coyotes aren’t exactly the most popular franchise in the NHL. They sit right near the bottom of the league’s standings and haven’t made the playoffs since the 2011-12 season, but the front office staff is hoping their new core of young players can help turn things around and steer the team in the right direction.
One player who has been a positive role model for young Coyotes fans and young fans in general since he joined the team is 23-year-old Max Domi. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes more than 10 years ago, Domi uses his status to help raise awareness and show young hockey players that they can still achieve their dream regardless of their diagnosis.
On Saturday night, the Coyotes were in Florida for a date with the Panthers. During the pre-game skate, Domi spotted a young Coyotes fans in the front row holding a sign directed at the ‘Yotes’ winger which caused him to go over to him almost immediately.
The young fan is named Jagger and he also happens to have Type 1 Diabetes, but thanks to everything Domi has done since he entered the NHL the youngster still dreams big of someday playing in the NHL, just like his hero Max.
As awesome as it was to see Domi show the young fan some love by giving him a puck and a fist bump through the glass, the Coyotes winger went one step further and made sure to hook the young fan up with a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native hooked up Jagger with a post-game visitor pass and took some time to chat with the youngster after the game for an experience he'll remember for the rest of his life.
