The Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets faced off last night on Valentine’s day, but there was a peculiar moment before the game.
As all the reporters filed into their seats, there was a commotion at centre ice where the Leafs were having trouble raising the jumbotron. It was sitting just above ice level, well within range of puck and the hydraulic system was not allowing them to raise it up.
The team was eventually able to figure out the issue and raise the scoreboard up, but not before Matt Calvert was able to crack a joke at the Leafs’ expense. With it being Valentine’s Day, Calvert gave the perfect line to Aaron Portzline.
Fortunately for Leafs fans, despite the team seeming a little sluggish throughout the game, they were able to work with what they had, pull out a win and ultimately get the last laugh.
