Just who exactly picked DJ Otzi’s “Hey Baby” song as Team Canada's goal celebrations song?
Some players enjoyed the track, others dispised it, and some were just flat out confused as to how it was selected.
Well, TSN’s goal song correspondent and investigative journalist Mark Masters decided to take it upon his hands and get to the bottom of this, like the intrepid reporter that he is.
If that's not Grade A reporting, then what really is?
According to Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds winger Boris Katchouk, the song wasn’t supposed to be the official goal song at all. Dillon Dube said there were hundreds of different tracks they listened to, and the players never took it seriously as the one that they'd actually select.
Katchouk claims that two rogue Canadian players supposedly went rogue and decided to submit the track on behalf of the team.
After Canada’s 9-0 shellacking over Slovakia, Jordan Kyrou expressed his desire to Masters to have the track changed to something with a little more of a pump up feel to it. But, when Team Canada used it at the outdoor game against the States and heard the reaction from all the Canadians singing it together at New Era Field in Buffalo, he knew they couldn't change it.
Now Mark needs to get to the bottom of which two players submitted the song.
