For fans of teams not in the playoffs, the next important date on the hockey calendar after the playoffs is the expansion draft.
As every hockey fan probably knows by now, a new team will be joining the NHL next season, the Vegas Golden Knights, and they're going to need players.
Some will come from the entry draft while others will come from free agency, and the rest will come by way of stealing as Vegas has the pick of the litter in regards to players that teams decide not to protect.
One of those players could be Roberto Luongo of the Florida Panthers as the team may take a chance and not protect him with the backup plan being James Reimer.
Tuesday, Luongo was asked about the possibility of being exposed in the expansion draft, and as always, he was his humorous and honest self.
This season was a tough one for Luongo, but he's only a year removed from a 35-win season in which he posted a .922 save percentage and 2.35 goals against average.
Those numbers suggest Vegas would think long and hard about snatching Luongo if the Panthers exposed him.
Luongo was also honest and funny in regards to a bunch of other subjects, including winning a Cup with the Panthers.
Clearly Luongo doesn't want to go anywhere, and we imagine fans don't want him going anywhere, either.
