The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the youngest franchises in Major League Baseball and this year marks the 20th anniversary of their first official season. Although they unloaded some of their big names players like Evan Longoria, Jake Odorizzi and Steven Souza Jr. this past offseason, the team still has some big things planned for their 20th season and so do their neighbours, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
With the start of the 2018 MLB season right around the corner, the Lightning will rock some special pre-game jerseys next Monday night when they host the Arizona Coyotes and they look like they’re going to be the perfect blend of the Lightning and the Rays.
One side of the jerseys will feature a Tampa Bay Rays 20th anniversary patch that includes the stingray similar to the one in their original log, while the other side will feature a special Thunderdome patch, the Rays’ home stadium that once housed the Lightning, as well.
We always love when teams collaborate on special edition jerseys and we’re expecting to see quite a few baseball-hockey mashups this summer.
