Saturday night’s edition of Saturday Night Live was unofficially a special sports edition of the popular late-night television show.
Former NBA star and current NBA on TNT analyst Charles Barkley hosted IT, with cameos from former Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez and Team USA Olympic gold medalist Hilary Knight.
Knight appeared on the ‘Weekend Update’ segment alongside Leslie Jones, the SNL commentator who just returned from the Pyeongchang Games covering the games for NBC. Out of all the events at the Winter Games, Jones was fixated on Team U.S.A.’s nail-biting shootout victory over the Canadians. Jones gave a special recap the Olympics, and when host Colin Jost jokingly asked her to teach him a few things about the game, out came Knight.
The segment was a hit all over the internet.
The gold medal was the first for the women’s team since capturing it back at the 1998 Games in Nagano, Japan.
