LeBron James has responded to a Fox host’s controversial comments regarding his recent statements about U.S. president Donald Trump.
James and fellow NBA star Kevin Durant recently criticized the president in an Uninterrupted video on Thursday, arguing he “doesn’t understand the people and really don’t give a f--- about the people.”
Laura Ingraham, who hosts “The Ingraham Angle,” took issue with both players’ remarks, calling them “R-rated,” “barely intelligible” and “ungrammatical.” She continued her criticism of James with a lengthy rant which concluded with her saying the Akron, Ohio native should “shut up and dribble.”
The following is an excerpt from www.cleveland.com
"I'm numb to this commentary. Must they run their mouths like that?" Ingraham began. "Unfortunately, a lot of kids and some adults take these ignorant comments seriously.
"Look, there might be a cautionary lesson in LeBron for kids. This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA. And it's always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball. Oh, LeBron and Kevin, you're great players but no one voted for you. Millions elected Trump to be their coach. So, keep the political commentary to yourself, or, as someone once said, shut up and dribble."
A known Trump supporter, Ingraham’s comments were not taken lightly, and numerous tweeters reacted negatively to her comments.
The best response of all came from the King himself. In an emotional Instagram post, James insisted he is "more than just an athlete."
LeBron’s hashtag was clearly a shot at the Fox personality, and will likely continue to trend on Twitter. The photo already has nearly 750,000 likes in just three hours, so it will be something to keep track of in the coming days.
