We might be seeing our first Last Chance U alumni in the CFL.

A pair of players from the East Mississippi Community College seasons cropped up on the player negotiation lists released on Thursday: Linebacker Dakota Allen and defensive tackle Ronald Ollie.

Allen became the first player from Last Chance U to get selected in the NFL Draft, going in the seventh round this year. He made his NFL debut with the Raiders earlier this season before being acquired by Jacksonville, where he remains under contract. Ollie, who was a fan favourite from the show’s first season, went to training camp with the Raiders before being cut.

It remains to be seen if there’s actually any momentum towards a CFL deal for either player, but at least for Canadian fans who followed them through Last Chance U, the prospect of your hometown team signing them over is exciting.

Other players of note from the negotiation lists include Heisman runner-up Jalen Hurts (Tiger-Cats) and Steelers starting quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges (Redblacks).
