The L.A. Kings are currently in a tight playoff race, sitting one point behind the Colorado Avalanche for the final spot. While there is no doubt that their focus is on playoff hockey, it’s important to compartmentalize and make time for the things that make you happy. For example, man’s best friend.
On Saturday four L.A. Kings players got the chance to mix two of their favourite passions – hockey and dogs. Well, not exactly hockey, but they had their dogs race across the Staples Center ice surface in what turned out to be the cutest competition of the year.
Watching a bunch of different breeds race across the ice is always going to be entertaining, but it makes it a little more entertaining when it’s the dogs of players all the fans know. While we’re sure that most fans were cheering for Tyler Toffoli’s pup Dodger, it was Jake Muzzin’s pooch that ended up taking top spot.
You could even buy t-shirts with your favourite dog’s face plastered on it.
This is probably the cutest competition since we saw the Atlanta Gladiators held a Weiner Dog race.
