Kyle Lowry didn’t expect to play in Toronto for more than two years, but now he’s leaving the Raptors as the greatest player in franchise history.

The 6-time NBA All-Star and one-time NBA champion spoke to the media for the first time since officially joining the Miami Heat and nothing but great things to say about his time with the Raptors and his time in Toronto.

When Lowry does return to Toronto for the first time with the Heat it’s definitely going to be an emotional one for every Raptors fan, regardless if they’re in the building or not, and you can bet there’s going to be a lengthy standing ovation, possibly multiple of them, for Lowry throughout the night.

Lowry also had some high praise for Fred VanVleet and mentioned why he thinks the Raps are in good hands with VanVleet and why he’s a worthy successor to him.

Lowry on why VanVleet is a worthy successor to him

Even if the Heat knock the Raptors out of the playoffs, you’re never going to hear a Raptors fan say anything bad about Lowry. He gave the city and the team his heart and soul and it’s something that will be remembered and appreciated by Raptors fans for many, many years to come.
