Kyle Dubas has been announced as the Toronto Maple Leafs’ new General Manager and one question that many people had on their mind (Especially with the news that Lou Lamoriello might not stay on as a Senior Advisor to the team) is whether or not the team will be allowed to grow facial hair.
For the young players, it hasn’t been as much of a problem so far, but it may become a bigger topic in the future.
The Toronto Maple Leafs introduced Dubas as their GM at a press conference today and he was asked about the policy. He explained that he is actually a fan of the rule, but will wait to discuss with his staff to decide if they will continue the rule.
The Leafs did grow beards in the playoffs, because the rule only applies to the regular season, so if the Leafs can get deeper into the playoffs, they won’t have to worry about it at all.
He said a lot of other nice things about Lamoriello as well, but then pumped the brakes a bit. Not because he didn’t have anything else nice to say, but instead to crack a joke that Lou might not like being exposed as a nice guy in the media. He’s worked hard for his reputation and doesn’t want it to change any time soon.
