All KHL action goes on hold from December 30 to January 3 so players can spend some quality time with their friends and family on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. In the final action of 2016, HC Sochi and Spartak Moscow went head-to-head with both sides looking to gain some ground on the playoff race.
With HC Sochi trailing by two goals nearing the midway point of the second period, 21-year-old Yegor Morozov tried to give his team some momentum to get back in the game by laying out Maxim Potapov with a big hit that ended up sending his opponent over the boards and onto HC Sochi’s bench.
This is the second time in just over a week that we’ve seen someone gets crushed over the boards in a KHL game. The last person to successfully pull this off in the KHL was former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Brandon Kozun.
