Kawhi Leonard is known for his even demeanor, one that’s hard to break. We all remember how much of a kerfuffle it created when he simply laughed at a press conference, and ever since then Toronto fans have analyzed basically every shred of emotion that comes out of him.
For a quiet, reserved guy that doesn’t use social media, Kawhi has actually dropped some pretty funny quotes over the past few weeks. He added to that following Tuesday’s Game 4 win over the Milwaukee Bucks when he answered an international reporter’s question in Chinese.
Raptors fans will eat that up. The little smirk on his face, the cheeky glance at the camera, Fun Guy Kawhi returns.
As you probably heard, “Ni Hao” means “Hello” in Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese). Technically, it translates to “You Good”, but in Chinese it is used as a greeting. While it’s pretty rudimentary Chinese from Kawhi, that’s not why fans would love it.
An answer like this likely has absolutely no bearing on the the “He Stay, He Go” question that has consumed Toronto, it is nice for Raps fans to see that he’s having fun. It helps that the whole team showed up to play in Game 4, flashing the potential the young Raps squad has.
To bring things full circle, apparently Kawhi means “Cutie” in Chinese. So… there’s that.
