It hasn’t been an easy go for Justin Williams and the Carolina Hurricanes so far in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Through two games, the Canes have been outscored 11-4 and haven’t been able to find any sort of rhythm. Captain Justin Williams is no stranger to these kinds of situations and acknowledged that his team hasn’t been at its best lately, but his way of describing the whole thing was… interesting.
Okay…
Williams’ past playoff experience almost warrants him to say whatever he wants at this point. Let’s not forget, this is Mr. Game 7 we’re talking about here. Flash back to the 2014 NHL postseason when the LA Kings were down 3-0 to the San Jose Sharks. After scoring zero goals through the first three games, Williams went on to record 4 goals and 2 assists in the next four games to help the Kings win the series. Three rounds later, he was named the eventual Conn Smythe winner.

And let’s not forget that the Canes were in this EXACT same situation in their opening series against the Capitals, before coming back and winning the series in seven games.
Carolina has not lost a home game this postseason so a return to PNC Arena should help give them a spark. Hopefully they’ll have the taste out of their mouths when Game 3 kicks off on Tuesday night.
