The Jimmy Butler era in Minnesota is reaching a crossroads where it really seems as though something has got to give. While everyone knew about his issues with the team last year, mainly that competing to win was not a top priority, this year the whole saga has taken a hop, skip, and a jump forward.
A few weeks ago, Jimmy Buckets reportedly asked for a trade out of Minnesota, a request that has yet to be granted. Disgruntled with the situation at Timberwolves camp, it all reached a boiling when he apparently started yelling at teammates and coaches, explaining that “they need him” .
Almost immediately afterwards, Butler sat down with Rachel Nichols of ESPN to discuss the blow up. Some of the highlights of this sit down were Butler basically saying that it may have come out the wrong way, but that he was honest and there’s nothing wrong about that. He also mentioned that it may be a situation that is possible to fix, but that he doesn’t think so.

All is not well in Minnesota, and Butler is right at the centre of it all. While some of the veteran players on the team were apparently pleased with the response, thinking that it is something that needed to happen, it’s hard to imagine many situations where a screaming match targeted at both players and coaches is a good thing.
