JT Brown is definitely one of the good guys in hockey.

His successful career in the NHL aside, his advocacy for justice as a person of colour in a predominately white sport has been nothing short of incredible. He was vocal at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement last year, and was the first NHL player to take a public stance against racial inequality back in 2017.

Today, after spending time playing professional hockey in Sweden last season, JT has officially announced his retirement from playing the game. Not so fast, though! In the same breath, he announced that he’d be the first ever TV analyst for the NHL’s newest team, the Seattle Kraken.

Amazing stuff! JT will join broadcast legend John Forslund in the broadcast booth, and adds to the already incredible roster of people that the Kraken organization has put together.

One of our favourite parts of this announcement? His wife Lexi’s amazing reaction on Twitter, which was both hilarious and wholesome!

Congratulations to the whole Brown family on their next chapter!
