Joel Embiid is not only quickly becoming a fan favourite in Philadelphia, but all across the NBA as well.
On Monday night in Philly, the 76ers centre came up with a massive block on Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz. Embiid knocked down the layup attempt and stared right in the face of the Jazz shooting guard.
Hoping for a triggered reaction, Embiid got what we was wishing, and then got an epic reaction out of the Philly faithful.
As the ball went back up court after the block, Mitchell regained his footing and went over to Embiid and gave him a shove, to which Embiid motioned for a technical foul.
The official was right there to see it all go down, and called a technical on Mitchel, and Embiid played off the energy of the crowd by raising his arms to pump them up.
Not only is the 23-year-old quickly becoming the next big superstar in the NBA, he’s also showing he’s capable of being the next great personality that could one day put him on the pedestal of Shaq and Charles Barkley.
The Cameroon native is averaging 22.3 points per game with 10.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game in just under 30 minutes a game, while converting on .504 of his shots from the field.
