Joe Thornton has a lot of respect around the league. That’s what you get when you breach the top 15 on the NHL’s all-time scoring list. Thornton’s 1,487 points is good for 14th on the list, and his 1,074 assists is 8th all-time.
While some players of Thornton’s stature and tenure grant them “untouchable” status to a certain extent, Jumbo Joe isn’t afraid to mix it up.
We’ve seen it throughout his whole career, as the gritty leader continues to grind away in the league. On Tuesday, Thornton got mixed up in the Evander Kane elbow on Radko Gudas when he found himself dishing chirps with notorious league bully Tom Wilson.
While we aren’t expecting these two to actually throw down, it’s definitely entertaining to watch them joust from the bench.
One thing’s for sure, the next game between these two teams will definitely be entertaining.
