Jesse Puljujärvi is looking for a fresh start with the Edmonton Oilers and will be hitting the ice with a brand new number to kick off the regular season.

The 2016 fourth overall pick was the only forward (and just second player with Mikaeil Sergachev) to rock 98 over in the NHL, but those days are over people. Instead, Puljujärvi will wear the same number as a Finnish legend who did much of his damage wearing it during his time in the league.

#13.

Look familiar?

Puljujärvi, 22, has 139 NHL games to his name but has struggled to find his feet at the sport’s highest level. The 6’4, 201 pound forward spent the past two seasons with SM-liiga’s Karpat where he scored a rock-solid 65 points in 72 games. There were rumours Puljujärvi would leave Edmonton but those were squashed after he signed a two-year extension back in October.

Puljujärvi is expected to start the season on the Oilers’ third line. Will he finally be a contributor behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl? Time will tell!
