Jamie Benn provided hockey fans with one of the celebrations of the year this afternoon in a home win over the St. Louis Blues. After Alexander Radulov tied the game at two with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Benn capped off the comeback with a shot from the slot in the extra frame. Overwhelemed with joy, Benn proceeded to snap his stick over his knee.
Hey, why raise your $300 stick in the air when you can just snap it in half?
As the Stars' account mentioned, the celebration was reminiscent of Bo Jackson’s infamous bat-snap. But contrary to Benn, Jackson's was for all the wrong reasons.
Benn’s celly was original (if that’s what you want to call it), but it’s not the best we’ve seen in the past few weeks. After seeing blue and finding out he was having a son following an epic slapshot, a soon-to-be dad fearlessly slid across the ice on his stomach.
We’ll give that one to the father.
Benn finished the game with a goal and an assist to help move Dallas into third place in the Central division. It’s a shame seeing a good stick go to waste, so hopefully he gets a little more creative after scoring his next overtime goal.
