For the first time in 15 months, James Hinchcliffe has captured the checkered flag at an IndyCar race.
The pride of Oakville, Ontario, jumped out in front of Josef Newgarden with just over 40 laps to go at the Iowa Corn 300 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to take over first place.
Despite winning the match under yellow with four laps to go, Hinchcliff claimed his second win at the 300-lap track with a 2.6491 second lead over Spencer Pigot. It was the second time Hinchcliffe had won the Iowa300, as he was victorious in 2013. It was the sixth IndyCar series win of his career.
The 31-year-old last won a race back in April of 2017 at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Here's some of the best reaction and footage from the race.
Up next, Hinchcliffe will race on home soil at the Honda Indy in Toronto that goes on Sunday, July 15th.
