Down at the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi, Kirk Wint of Jamaica didn't run in the 50-metre race, he used his arms and hands to physically propel him across the finish line for a silver medal.

Wint started the race on all fours in a crouching position, and nearly took home a gold medal with a time of 14.89 seconds.

Showing an incredible amount of courage and bravery, the 17-year-old paraplegic was the only competitor not racing in an upright position.

"Kirk Wint was remarkable, running the 50m on all fours — on hands and knees — since he is a paraplegic. He created much cheer from the spectators as he raced by the able-bodied athletes to take second place,” said Jamaican athletics head coach, Andre Johnstone, to the Jamaica Observer.

Wint is unable to walk due to deformed legs, but that didn't stop him from racing in the event. At the 2015 Summer Games, he won gold in the softball throw and placed for in the same 50m event as a 13-year-old.
