The Montreal Canadiens are flying out of the gates in 2021 and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. Despite starting the year on a 6-game road trip, the Habs sit 1st in the North Division, gaining at least a point in 9 out of their first 10 games.
Part of their early success can be attributed to the new players in town. In the opening 10 days, newcomers Tyler Toffoli and Josh Anderson have combined for a whopping 20 points. On top of that, new backup goaltender Jake Allen has posted a very nice 2.02 GAA and 0.930 SV% through his first four appearances.
Following the Habs’ victory over the Vancouver Canucks, Allen discussed the success of the two aforementioned newcomers. As it turns out, he believes he’s had a very unique part in the process.
All part of the plan, right, Jake? As long as he’s stopping the pucks when opposing players are shooting, that’s all that really matters.
