Jacksonville Jaguars fans haven’t had much to celebrate over the past decade.
From 2012-2016 the Jags won a combined 17 games over the span of five seasons and have failed to make the playoffs ever since the 2007 season. However, thanks to Leonard Fournette, an outstanding defence and a turnaround season from Blake Bortles, to name a few things, the Jags are heading to the postseason for the first time in a decade.
Although Bortles was able to turn his play around to help lead the Jags to 10 wins in 14 games, the former first round draft pick still faces a lot of criticism from fans, analysts, and players throughout the league.
Following the Jags’ massive victory over the Houston Texans last weekend, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle asked Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney if Bortles’ play had improved this year and the two-time Pro Bowler had a simple answer for the reporter.
"He trash."
Bortles didn’t let Clowney’s comments get to him, though, as he came right back with an even better response.
“If how we’re playing and how I’m playing is trash, then I’m fine with being trash,” Bortles told Jaguars.com senior writer John Oehser on Wednesday afternoon.
Considering the Jaguars are a lock for the postseason and the Texans haven’t won a game since November 19, Jags fans took advantage of this opportunity to troll the Texans outside linebacker for his comments from earlier this week and sent him a bunch of trash cans ahead of the holiday season.
Clowney was selected two spots higher than Bortles in the 2014 NFL Draft as he ended up going first overall.
