Through his first four periods of play in the 2021-22 season, Jack Hughes appeared to have potentially leveled up. While it was a small sample size, Hughes recorded two goals and an assist, including the OT winner in the only game he actually completed. On top of that, Hughes racked up an other-worldly 10 takeaways in his short stint.

In his second game of the year, Hughes was taken out along the board by Jeremy Lauzon and it left him with a shoulder injury that would keep him out for weeks.

Now, he’s back. While usually you get the official news from the team, or a head coach gives the update. This return-from-injury announcement came in a different fashion.

Hughes took it upon himself to announce the news. While he didn’t directly say that he would be back, he not-so-vaguely hinted at it..

Real subtle, Jack!

Sure enough, the official news came out soon after when it was announced that Hughes would be in the Devils lineup Tuesday night.

The sports world was hyped to hear the news.
