For the first time in the second installment of the Winnipeg Jets (letβs just say Jets 2.0), the franchise has a playoff victory to vouch for.
The Jets defeated the Wild 3-2 to take Game 1 in front of a rambunctious Winnipeg crowd decked out in all white.
Joe Morrow, an afterthought with the Habsβ organization who was acquired at the trade deadline, scored the go-ahead goal with just over seven minutes left in the third period. An unlikely hero to notch the game-winner, a spot in the lineup for Morrow opened up with injuries to Toby Enstrom and Dmitry Kulikov, and the acquisition from the Jets organization proved to be worth it.
Connor Hellebuyck stood tall in net by registering 18 saves for his first career playoff win. Mark Scheifele and Patrik Laine also tallied for the Jets. The Jets lost in four straight to the Ducks in 2015 in their only other Jets 2.0 playoff appearance.
Hereβs the best reaction from around the internet.
Game 2 goes Friday night from the Bell MTS Centre in Winnipeg, so you know in and around the building will be rockin' once again. The Jets could be without Mathieu Perreault, as the left winger was forced to leave the game and did not return. No updates were given, because, you know, it's playoffs and all, so expect the "day-to-day with a lower or upper-body injury" tag to be slapped onto Perreault if he's unable to play in Game 2.
