Mother Nature has been giving a beating out to the majority of those living in North America at the moment.
Whether you’re living in Michigan, the East Coast of Canada, or even down in Florida, this winter has produced one of the coldest stretches of frigid temperatures and whiteout conditions we’ve seen as a whole in quite some time.
Some people refuse to head outside in the below freezing weather and resort to staying in and binge watching Netflix, while others decide to go out and brave the elements.
Even though we all love the sport of hockey, those that aren’t as conditioned to the game engage in other winter activities that kept them occupied until spring time. Heading up a mountain to do some skiing or sledding is a popular family hobby.
If you and your buddies are looking for a fun thing to do in the snow and cold, jumping on a snowmobile is always an option, if you have a few machines to play around with that is.
But what about a more cost-effective, easy-to-do alternatives? Well you could go ice fishing, but why not change it up and try a little ice bowling? After all, not everyone has access to snowmobiles or winter cottages and you don't need to much to ice bowl.
Californian man Nick Smith of Muskegon, Michigan, pooled together a few of his neighbours in the Shandy Aces community and made a special bowling lane to go along with their outdoor hockey rink, and it looks like an absolute blast to play. Smith teamed up with a video crew and put together this video on the fun winter time activity.
Other than the cold weather, all you really need is a few bowling balls, some pins, a shovel to clear the snow, and maybe a couple of coffee’s or wobbly pops to keep the body warm. Heck, you don't even have to throw on those goofy, slippery bowling shoes!
Could this be the next Olympic winter sport?
