This past Sunday was one of the biggest days in Philadelphia sports history as the Eagles captured their first Super Bowl in franchise history with a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots.
Despite finishing the season as the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 13-3 record, no one other than Eagles fans really gave the team a chance after Carson Wentz went down with a season-ending injury Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams, but they rolled with the underdog tag and ended up shocking the world.
Considering this was the team’s first Super Bowl victory in its 85 years of existence, a lot of fans couldn’t wait to show the team how much it means to the entire city and showed up at the airport to welcome the team back to town with its first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Even the local media members who were sent to the airport to cover the story were cheering along as the players made their way towards the fence with the trophy.
The fans weren’t just at the airport, though, they also crowded around the team’s practice facility with signs to welcome to the team back.
Philadelphia will celebrate the Eagles’ first Super Bowl this Thursday with a victory parade and you can bet that just about everything in town is going to be shut down for the day.
