Nearly two months after a road collision took the lives of 16 members on the Humboldt Broncos’ bus, the organization announced today that it will return to the ice for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Humboldtstrong.info made its fans and supporters aware that the team will welcome 80 prospective players to attend an invite-only camp that is scheduled to run from May 25-27, 2018 in Saskatoon. The organization is currently searching for a new head coach/general manager; positions previously held by the late Darcy Haugan. Haugan, along with ten of his players, were tragically killed on April 6 after colliding with a semi-truck en route to a playoff game in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Four personnel members and the team’s bus driver were also a part of the 16 deceased.

Season tickets are expected to go on sale in the near future. Although the team is expected to receive tremendous support, 2017-18 season ticket holders with receive the first right of refusal on their seats.

The team’s announcement to return for the upcoming season is just one piece of good news Broncos fans received today. Former assistant captain Kaleb Dalgren, who suffered six broken vertebrae, a punctured lung, a fractured skull and severe brain damage, officially committed to York University to play for the Lions; the same school his former coach Mark Cross played at during his U Sports career. Cross was also killed in the crash.

As the team begins its preparation for the upcoming season, it will be sure to receive an unwavering amount of support. Their story back to the rink will be one to follow over the next few months.
