Every hockey fan has thought of a rule they would implement if they were commissioner of the NHL for a day, so we posed the question to the internet in order to get a better idea of what some of those rule additions would look like.
There were plenty of answers (a number of which had to do with bad officiating and eliminating the shootout) that we found unique and entertaining, so let's take a look at some of the best!
Not only is the penalty served in full rule popular among fans, but this one takes it to the next level as it gives the team shorthanded a chance to end that power play by scoring. It could lead to teams taking more chances, especially on penalties longer than 2 minutes.
We want to see more goalies get involved in the scoring, so in order to do that, they need to be allowed to skate past centre with the puck.
It's the anti-puck-over-the-glass rule. Not only is it not a penalty, but play just keeps on going.
Every game is a playoff game. We're all for it!
We're not sure how this is exactly fair because it's like scoring a power play goal before the power play, but hey, more scoring isn't a bad thing. Also, don't take penalties.
Talk about a game-changing rule. We'd love to see it just to see how it goes, too.
How would this impact the game? We have no idea. But hey, refs are wrong too sometimes and they should be penalized for their mistakes.
YES PLEASE!!
So....this is a little too crazy and totally a safety hazard, but we respect the entertainment value.
