Surprise, surprise everyone! Columbus Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella has stirred the pot in a pregame presser once again!
Torts was the talk of the town following the Jackets’ 4-3 loss to the Bruins after he guaranteed his team would be back in Boston for Game 7 and now, he seems to be playing mind games with Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask. As Columbus gears up for their must-win game on home ice, Torts insisted that CBJ “put a dent” in Rask. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, however, thinks the contrary.
Not everyone appeared to be on the same page as the animated bench boss.
Rask has been lights out in the series, posting a .936 save percentage and 2.20 GAA through five games. His three goals allowed in Game 5 came on 36 shots and tied his series high (3-2 Game 2 loss). Sergei Bobrovsky, on the other hand, has allowed eight goals in his last two starts.
This presser went just a tad bit differently from some of the other ones we’ve seen him in this postseason. He refused to comment on the Brad Marchand punch on Scott Harrington, but had a classic reaction after getting asked a question regarding Cam Atkinson’s height.
Time will tell if Torts’ tactic ends up being a success.
