Hockey fans are losing their cool after a head-scratching call was made in Game 4 between the Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights.
In the opening frame, Jets forward Mark Scheifele was battling in front of the Golden Knights’ net and was cross-checked in the face by Brayden McNabb. Clearly angered, Scheifele turned around and retaliated with a slash to McNabb's shins. Moments later, the play was called dead and to everyone’s surprise, Scheifele was the only player rewarded a penalty.
Hockey fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing and responded to what many of them viewed as a horrible call on Twitter.
The Jets were luckily able to escape the scare but fans were clearly still upset.
Vegas has been dangerous on the power play all series, so the last thing the Jets needed was another situation where they were short-handed. Winnipeg received three consecutive power plays afterward, so perhaps the refs realized they made a horrible mistake.
