The Arizona Wildcats men’s hockey team hosted the Arizona State Sun Devils for their annual Senior Night this past Sunday night and fans were treated to more than just a hockey game.
The night seemed more like a wrestling event than a hockey game as five fighting majors were handed out during the game, but the icing on it all was the goalie fight that broke out midway through the third period.
University of Arizona’s Austin Wilson and Arizona State University’s Jack Burkel were the two goalies involved in the scrap and received 15 penalty minutes each for their roles in the altercation and then were tossed from the game.
The two teams combined for 141 penalty minutes on Sunday night, with 73 going to the home team and 68 to the visitors, but it was the hosts who came out on top 6-1.
