Tuesday night's Flyers and Red Wings game was centred around the Flyers goaltending prospect Carter Hart making his first official start in the NHL.
And while Hart's performance is a significant storyline to follow, the Red Wings goaltending situation became quite interesting when Jimmy Howard was forced to undress after injuring his back in warm-ups.
Filling in for Howard was Jonathan Bernier, and with the game in Philadelphia, the Red Wings were forced to use the Flyers' emergency goaltender Justin Kowalkoski.
The 32-year-old actually dressed as the Penguins last year in a game and is a graduate of Colgate University where he played for three years as the varsity team's back-up goaltender.
Wearing Chris Osgood's old No. 30, Kowalkoski plays beer league 2-3 times a week.
Truly, a rock-solid choice for a back-up goaltender.
