Lennart Petrell didn’t have the most prolific NHL career but the 33-year-old has carved out a pretty solid career playing over in Europe.
Petrell was drafted in the sixth round of (190th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, but never played with the Jackets
After spending seven seasons with HIFK Helinski, Petrell finally made the jump to North America, playing in 95 career NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers where he notched, 7 goals and 11 assists. Petrell returned back to Europe in 2013 when he signed with Geneve Servette of the Swiss league.
Now back with Helsinki, the 6’3”, 198-pound centre is still chipping in offensively with 3 goals and 6 helpers in 33 games this season. Sitting on 99 career goals in the SM-liiga, Petrell made sure his milestone marker was one to remember.
Pretty slick move from Petrell, as he takes a pass down low, rotates his body and puts his stick and the puck through his legs and in.
