If you remember from last year, LiAngelo Ball was one of three UCLA players to be arrested for shoplifting in China; memorably, this became a bit of an international incident that led to a bizarre feud between Donald Trump and LiAngelo’s father, LaVar.
This all happened a while back, enough so that Foot Locker feels comfortable poking fun at it in their latest commercial with Ball.
The commercial is not so subtle about Ball in relation to stealing and criminal activities, although ostensibly, it’s all about Foot Locker’s new ‘One and Done’ shirt. It’s a solid dig.
Although he isn’t quite as high-profile as his brother Lonzo, LiAngelo hopes to join him in the NBA in this Thursday’s NBA Draft. With that said, though, he’s widely considered as a fringe prospect with no guarantees of even being selected.
More likely to be drafted is Trae Young, who is expected to go in the lottery. Like Ball, Young was featured in a similar Foot Locker commercial that ribbed his infamous shooting slump in the second half of his college season. (For our money, this one’s actually even funnier than Ball’s.)
