Say what you want about the sport of hockey, or its players, but one part of the sport that is undeniable is the toughness of most of its participants. There are countless stories of players playing through unfathomably painful injuries, or losing teeth and not missing a shift. Add physically vomiting to that list, as Philadelphia Flyers goalie prospect Carter Hart was doing during media timeouts on Friday.
According to Flyers Nation, he was leaving the ice so that his breakfast could pay him a visit. While playing through pain (or in this case, nausea) is one thing, it’s another to perform remarkably well. Carter Hart couldn’t have performed any better.
The promising prospect posted a 30-save shutout to help the Everett Silvertips in advancing to the 3rd round of WHL Playoffs. The 4-0 victory in Game 5 capped off a 4-1 series win, thanks in part to Hart’s spectacular goaltending.
Canadian hockey fans will remember Carter Hart from the World Juniors when he was a huge part of Team Canada’s success. Hart managed to show himself well, but of course there was also another part of his game that was revealed – his strict superstitions.
Even though vomiting seemed to work out well, we’re hoping it doesn’t become one of his superstitions.
