Finland shocked every Canadian fan on Wednesday night as they pushed their quarterfinal matchup to overtime with a late goal in regulation, where they eventually scored the game-winner to send the hosts packing early on.
Considering the Canadians were just under one minute away from advancing to the semifinals and ended up on the losing end of things, it was a devastating blow for all the players representing their country. As the Finnish players celebrated their semifinals-clinching goal behind Michael DiPietro’s net, Finnish goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made a classy gesture as he showed some DiPietro some love before joining the rest of his teammates in the celebration.
The Buffalo Sabres prospect gave DiPietro a congratulatory fist bump before getting in on the celebration.
Very classy move by the 19-year-old netminder.
