NHL penalty box officials are a hilarious part of the NHL and have been involved in many funny moments over the years.
There aren’t many other sports where players have to be confined to a specific box for a specific amount of time and there are even less that have doors within their arena. Realistically, the official’s main job is closing the door behind players that leave the box, but they also get to sit next to them when they serve their penalty.
One official in Tampa was in Leafs box last night and maybe he asked for that assignment because it appears as if he’s a fan of the team. He’s at least a fan of Mike Babcock.
