There are certain voices that become synonymous with sports franchises, or sports in general. Recently, we said goodbye to legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, who is a good example of how a personality, a cadence, and a pureness of voice can determine a watching experience for all of us at home.
On Saturday, we said goodbye to another legendary voice. After 55 years broadcasting basketball, predominantly as the voice of the New York Knicks, TNT broadcaster Marv Albert signed off for the final time.
Sitting alongside Hall of Famer Reggie Miller, Marv reflected on some of the highlights of his long career as photo flashed across the screen. As the slideshow came to an end, Albert said goodnight over the air waves for the final time.
The basketball world was stuck deep in their feels.
