Dwyane Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his NBA career with the Miami Heat after the franchise selected him 5th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft.
After spending a year with the Chicago Bulls and 46 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade was traded back to the Heat at the NBA trade deadline in exchange for a protected 2024 second-round draft pick.
On Friday night, the 36-year-old returned to the place where it all started for him and you better believe he got an incredible standing ovation from the crowd.
During his time in Miami, the Chicago, Illinois native made 12 NBA All-Star Game appearances, helped the team to three NBA titles, and broke numerous franchise records.
Since Wade helped turn the Heat franchise into what it is today, the team showed him a lot of respect by giving him back his old locker in the teamโs room.
Wade wasnโt in the starting lineup on Friday night but he checked into the game with 5:19 left in the opening quarter and drained his first shot.
