For the second time of his young career, defenceman Dougie Hamilton is on the move.

Drafted 9th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2011, Hamilton played just three seasons with the B’s before being traded to the Calgary Flames in 2015. But after just three short seasons North of the border, Hamilton was shopped to Carolina in a packaged deal in exchange for Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin.

Questions arose about Hamilton’s character after the move. Why would a promising, true #1 defender get traded twice before turning 26 if something wasn’t up? A rumour even spread that Hamilton would visit a local Calgary museum while his Flames teammates would eat lunch at Moxies restaurant, but Hamilton doesn’t seem to think it’s true. When asked about it on the David Glenn Show, he provided a great response.

There aren’t too many options, but according to TripAdvisor the three best museums to check out are the Biltmore Estate, Airborne and Special Operations Museum, and Wheels through Time Transportation Museum, so make sure to check those ones out if you get a chance Dougie!

In Carolina, Hamilton will have the opportunity to become the team’s undisputed #1 defender. While he gave the Flames some solid years, veteran defenceman Mark Giordano remained atop of their defensive depth chart. Hamilton now joins a talented back end which includes Justin Faulk, Jaccob Slavin, and Brett Pesce.

Hamilton should thrive in his new opportunity, but it will be interesting to see how long he calls Carolina his home.
