Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray have been going at each other all series long in the first round, and that culminated with a historic duel in Game 4 with Mitchell’s Utah Jazz ekeing out a close win to take a 3-1 series lead.
Between Mitchell’s 51 points and Murray’s 50, these two became the first playoff opponents to score 50+ against each other in the same game. Especially down the stretch, this one was an absolute clinic in terms of shot-making. No fancy sets, no nothing. Just pure buckets.
This is Mitchell's second game of at least 50 points in the series, after he dropped 57 in Game 1, and with that he joins Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson as the only players to record multiple 50-point games in a single series. Not bad company by any means!
Murray has played well too, including a few big shots at the end of Game 1 to secure Denver’s first and only win of the series so far, but they’ll have to dig deep to avoid elimination in Game 5.
