Dirk Nowitzki is the greatest player in Dallas Mavericks history and is one of the biggest legends when it comes to Dallas sports.
On Wednesday night the 40-year-old was a special guest at the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, where he was scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Since baseball isn’t his game, the 2011 NBA Finals MVP hit up the cage inside the ballpark to get in some practice pitches before attempting the real thing in front of thousands of fans and it’s a good thing he opted for the warm-up.
Luckily for Nowitzki it was just a warm-up pitch and he managed to deliver a much better one when the time came before the game.
If the 14-time NBA All-Star did end up throwing out the exact same pitch during the pre-game ceremony, we’re guessing he would have gotten a pass from the Rangers faithful.
