Dirk Nowitzki is one of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA.
The 13-time NBA All-Star sits sixth on the NBA’s all-time points list and is one of just seven players to score 30,000 or more career points.
On Monday night, the 39-year-old added another historic accomplishment to his already impressive résumé by becoming just the sixth player in NBA history to play 50,000 career minutes.
It was supposed to be a memorable night for Nowitzki because of his rare accomplishment, but something else ended up stealing the spotlight by the end of the game as fans tuning in started to notice something a little off with the 2011 NBA champion’s jersey.
Nowitzki has played in 1,448 games regular season games, 145 playoff games and has played more than 50,000 career minutes, but his last name was still misspelled on the back of his jersey.
Mavericks equipment manager Al Whitley took full credit for the brutal mistake online after the game, but turned a negative into a positive by deciding to auction off the one-of-a-kind jersey with proceeds going towards the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation.
Nowitzki is currently averaging 12.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game through 54 games this season.
