Gregg Popovich is hailed as one of the best basketball minds in the world. Kawhi Leonard is hailed as one of the best basketball players in the world. Should be a match made in heaven, right?
Not exactly.
While the duo did enjoy a lot of success while Kawhi was a San Antonio Spur, they didn’t always see eye-to-eye. Many thought that Leonard’s eventual departure from the Spurs was a direct result of his relationship with Coach Pop. Those who believe that their relationship was even rockier than it appeared would be reassured after hearing what Popovich had to say about his former star.
There’s no denying Kawhi’s talent, but his quiet personality may not scream charismatic or motivational. Saying that, the type of skill that he possesses has a sort of leadership in itself, but we’re thinking Pop must’ve been talking about his personality.
