Adam Henrique was selected 82nd overall in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils after a four-year stint with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.

After playing 24 games with the Devils this season, the team traded the 27-year-old, along with Joseph Blandisi and a 2018 third-round draft pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Sami Vatanen and a conditional draft pick in 2019 or 2020.

On Monday night, Henrique was back on the ice at the Prudential Center for the first time since the trade and for the first time in his career he took the ice from the visitor’s side of the rink.

Henrique became a fan favourite in New Jersey over the years and it’s pretty clear how much the Devils fans miss him on their side based on how many of them crowded around the tunnel just to welcome him back to town.

From signs to video shoutouts, the Devils fans found many different ways to show some love for their former player in his first game back in New Jersey.

Henrique played 455 games as a member of the Devils over an eight-year span and collected 122 goals and 135 assists for 257 points during his time in New Jersey. Since being acquired by the Ducks on November 30, Henrique has scored three goals to go with three assists for six points in eight games.
