LaPorsha Washington was out for a coffee run with her four daughters this past weekend in Texas when their lives were changed forever after a man opened fire on their car in an unprovoked shooting and killed her 7-year-old daughter, Jazmine Barnes.

Over the past few days more than 1,600 people have donated to the GoFundMe campaign that was set up to cover Jazmine’s funeral expenses and have raised $41,491, nearly $35,000 more than the initial goal of $6,500.

On Thursday afternoon, Houston Texans superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins pledged to donate the entirety of his $29,000 playoff check for this upcoming weekend to Barnes’ family to help cover funeral costs and he’ll be playing in her honour, as well.

Aside from the generous donation and playing in her honour, Hopkins also said he would join civil rights activist Shaun King; who is offering $100,000 for the arrest of the killer, County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and Mayor Sylvester Turner to help find Barnes’ killer.

Police have described the suspect as a white male in his 40s who was driving a red, extended-cab pickup truck.
