David Rittich joined the Calgary Flames organization as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2016-17 season and was very impressive in his AHL rookie season.
Early this season, the Flames opened up a full-time roster spot for the 25-year-old by dealing Eddie Lack to the New Jersey Devils and he has come through for them; posting a 4-1-2 record to go along with a 2.23 goals against average and a .926 save percentage over eight games.
Since it doesn’t look like the Flames will be sending Rittich back to the AHL anytime soon, the Jihlava, Czech Republic native decided it was time to switch things up with his mask and recently got a new design.
The mask is a little similar to his previous one, but the outline on the Flames logo on the side is much darker and his new mask includes a little tribute to Bart Simpson on the left side of the mask.
One person in particular who might get a kick out of this mask is Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Peter Budaj, who has been known to rock Ned Flanders on his masks in the past.
